There\u2019s a surprise in store for Whitney Dean (played by Shona McGarty) in the coming weeks on EastEnders<\/a> as she learns she\u2019s pregnant!<\/p>\n

In scenes set to air from Wednesday 7th December, the beloved character turns 30 and she needs to take a pregnancy test \u2013 and later finds out it\u2019s positive.<\/p>\n

The baby is Zack\u2019s, but Whitney gets the impression he isn\u2019t mature enough to be a dad \u2013 will she tell him the truth? And how will Zack take it if she does?<\/p>\n

Actress McGarty has opened up about the pregnancy, saying it\u2019s something her character has always wanted.<\/p>

\u201cHer first reaction is she\u2019s really scared and worried! She\u2019s worried because she\u2019s not in a relationship with Zack \u2013 they were just casually sleeping together,\u201d McGarty explains.<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess she just feels like she\u2019s not settled, and she\u2019s unsure about the future, and she\u2019s got to decide whether she can do it on her own.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut equally, it\u2019s something that Whitney\u2019s always wanted her whole life, even right back to the day when she was looking after Bianca\u2019s children and working in a nursery. Whitney loves children, and she\u2019s always had that motherly thing about her.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for whether she sees a future with Zack, McGarty\u2019s not sure, telling press including RadioTimes.com<\/a>: \u201cI think Whitney was talked into sleeping with Zack or getting close to Zack by Finlay and Felix.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey said, \u2018Don\u2019t be boring. Don\u2019t be such an old lady and just go for it!\u2019. So, Whitney takes the chance, and they end up casually seeing each other.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhitney knows deep down that he\u2019s a player, and I guess that kind of weighs on her mind because she thinks she won\u2019t have a partner. She\u2019s thinking, \u2018Is Zack capable of being a dad? Is he going to freak out? Does he want this baby?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cAll those horrible thoughts are going around in her head. She\u2019s potentially going to be a single mum, so it\u2019s a big thing for her. It\u2019s life-changing.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for how Zack takes the news, McGarty teased the \u201cunexpected\u201d, adding that it leaves Whit \u201cconfused\u201d.<\/p>\n
