Audible has unveiled its brand-new all-star audiobook version of Oliver Twist, produced by Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes (Skyfall<\/a>, 1917).<\/p>\n

It stars Brian Cox (Succession<\/a>) as Fagin,\u00a0Daniel Kaluuya (Nope<\/a>) as Bill Sikes, Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton<\/a>) as Nancy and Emilio Villa-Muhammad (The Man Who Fell to Earth<\/a>) as Oliver.<\/span><\/p>\n

The stacked cast also includes Kit Connor (Heartstopper<\/a>), Paapa Essiedu (The Capture<\/a>), Julia Davis (Gavin & Stacey<\/a>), Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso<\/a>), Patricia Allison (Sex Education<\/a>), Diane Morgan (Motherland<\/a>) and Lucian Msamati (Gangs of London<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Cox <\/span>said: <\/span>\u201cDickens was a genius storyteller and Oliver Twist may be his greatest ever work. Reimagining a character as complex and changeable as Fagin offers a real challenge for an actor, and I hope listeners enjoy our telling of this masterpiece.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\nKaluuya added: \u201cThere are few villains as infamous or terrifying as Bill Sikes, and I really enjoyed getting the chance to record a new take on him for Audible. Keep the lights on \u2013 some of his scenes are really dark.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nMeanwhile, Mendes<\/span> said: \u201cDickens was the ultimate storyteller, and hearing Oliver Twist come to life in such a compelling, 3D way feels exactly how he might have wanted it to be experienced.<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cThe cast is fantastic, and I\u2019ve never heard an audio production before that is so filmic. drama tells Dickens\u2019s classic story, with young orphan Oliver born into a grim 19th century workhouse, yet later being evicted and eventually getting ingratiated into a gang of young pickpockets led by the Artful Dodger (<\/span>Elijah Wolf) and Cox\u2019s Fagin<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\nThe audiobook features an original score from Dan Gillespie-Sells, and includes Foley recordings captured in Dickens\u2019s former London house at 48 Doughty Street, in the rooms where he originally wrote the novel.<\/span><\/p> Two more <a href=\"\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/hz\/audible\/mlp?tag=radtim0b-21&ascsubtag=radiotimes-0"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""sponsored" noopener noreferrer\">Audible Original<\/a> adaptations of Charles Dickens
