Roald Dahl fans, assemble: the film adaptation of Tim Minchin\u2019s <\/span>West End hit, <\/span>Matilda the Musical<\/span><\/a>, is finally upon us.<\/span><\/p>\n The movie, which\u00a0<\/span>is based on the classic children\u2019s novel by Roald Dahl,\u00a0follows child prodigy Matilda (Alisha Weir), as she leads a revolution against her school\u2019s\u00a0evil headteacher, Miss Trunchball (played by Emma Thompson<\/a>).<\/p>\n The Netflix adaptation features 12 of the 16 Tim Minchin songs from the West End hit newly-recorded by the film\u2019s spectacular cast, a<\/span>s well as 10 instrumental score pieces by Christopher Nightingale, composer and orchestrator of the original stage production.<\/span><\/p>\n One \u201cbig musical number\u201d didn\u2019t make it<\/a> into the finished movie, however.<\/span><\/p>\n Cast member\u00a0<\/span>Andrea Riseborough<\/span><\/a> recently<\/span> told <\/span>RadioTimes.com<\/span><\/a> that the cast worked on the sequence for the track Loud for months, but that the scene was eventually scrapped.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a big musical number that we shot [Loud] and which we worked on for three or four months, and which isn\u2019t in the finished film,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s often the case with a musical film but it was such a joy to do it and have that sort of fun.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n She added that \u201cthe film works without\u201d the song.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
