World Cup 2022 top scorers continue to battle hard for the Golden Boot with a handful of contenders notching up three strikes in the group stages.<\/p>\n

Kylian Mbapp\u00e9 appears to be the frontrunner in this tournament with three goals to his name in just two matches, already halfway to Harry Kane\u2019s Golden Boot-winning six-goal haul in 2018.<\/p>\n

England star Marcus Rashford has nudged his name into contention with two strikes against Wales to draw level with Mbapp\u00e9, while Cody Gakpo may be the star of this World Cup so far with a goal in each of his appearances so far.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a long way to go, but players have already started to stake their claim for top spot. Kane is the reigning Golden Boot title holder though he is yet to net in the 2022 edition. The Tottenham striker does lead the assists table with three to his name already.<\/p>\n

The next highest total in Russia was just four strikes, with a bunch of players already closing in on that total after the group stages alone.<\/p>\n

Six is the magic number, or so it seems. Scoring six in World Cup finals would have won you the Golden Boot in 10 of the last 11 World Cup tournaments dating back to 1978. Brazilian superstar Ronaldo notched eight in a stunning 2002 competition.<\/p>\n
