Suranne Jones is a modern-day Ebeneezer Scrooge in the trailer for Christmas Carole, Sky\u2019s upcoming festive comedy.<\/p>\n

The clip, which can be shared exclusively by RadioTimes.com<\/a>, sees the Gentleman Jack<\/a> star as wealthy entrepreneur Carole Mackay, \u201ca monumentally mean\u201d businesswoman who has made a fortune selling all things festive.<\/p>\n

Speaking in the trailer, she says: \u201cChristmas is about spending money that you don\u2019t have on that cousin you secretly hate. Christmas is a lie made up by American corporations and Charles Dickens!\u201d<\/p>\n

Watch the clip below.<\/p>\n\n<p>In classic Scrooge fashion, Carole is visited by the ghosts of past, present and future as they attempt to teach her the true spirit of Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>Jonty Stephens and Ian Ashpitel play Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise, the Ghosts of Christmas past, with Jo Brand appearing as the Ghost of Christmas present and Nish Kumar starring as the Ghost of Christmas yet to come.<\/p>\n<p>Citizen Khan\u2019s Anil Gupta and Richard Pinto are behind the script.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about Christmas Carole, Jones said that it\u2019s a \u201cfun and unexpected twist\u201d on the original Dickens story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has a modern female Scrooge, which feels fresh and different to the original story,\u201d she added. \u201cIt has a core message of family, like the original, but the themes are contemporary.
