It\u2019s been three Christmasses since we last saw Gavin & Stacey\u2019s Billericay and Barry gang on our screens \u2013 and it looks like it could be many more before they return.<\/p>\n

Yes, despite the huge success of the 2019 special, which saw more than 17 million people tune in to catch up with the titular couple and their friends and family, it doesn\u2019t look like Gavin & Stacey will be back for a Christmas special this year.<\/p>\n

There is some hope the comedy will do so in future, however. James Corden, who pens the series alongside Ruth Jones, is moving back to the UK in summer 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got nothing in the diary to get writing, but I think we will definitely write something together again, because I think that it would be a shame not to,\u201d Jones told Times Radio\u2019s Mariella Frostrup.<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cObviously with him coming back to the UK then we\u2019ve got more chance of getting together. There are no plans to write more Gavin & Stacey\u2026 I like the idea of leaving it where we left it, if I\u2019m honest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Will there be a Gavin and Stacey Christmas special in 2022?<\/strong><\/h2>\n
Unfortunately not. Jones, who plays Nessa in the series, confirmed the news to Times Radio. She did, however, offer some hope for future specials now that James Corden is moving back to the UK.<\/p>\n
Actor Larry Lamb, who plays Gavin\u2019s dad Mick Shipman, recently told Essex Live<\/a> that, should another special be greenlit, it would take a while to make.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs to whether there will be another one; it takes such a long time to get it all together. It takes them about a year to write it, to get it pushed through the system to where that\u2019s the finished item, and then to gather everybody together to do it. There certainly won\u2019t be a Christmas special this year, that\u2019s for sure,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
