With brand new streaming service ITVX<\/a> having finally launched today (Thursday 8th December), TV viewers can look forward to a host of exciting new dramas in the coming weeks and months \u2013 and one of the most hotly-anticipated is Russell T Davies\u2019s Nolly<\/a>.<\/p>\n The three-part drama arrives in February 2023 and stars Helena Bonham Carter as Noele Gordon, the late Crossroads actress whose career was suddenly halted when she was unceremoniously axed from the soap at the peak of her fame.<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a> at a launch event for the new streamer, Davies explained what it was about the true story that appealed to him.\u200c<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a story of a queen losing her crown, of a woman falling from grace and having it all taken away from her by men,\u201d he said. \u201cSo even if I\u2019d invented this story, I\u2019d be very proud of it because it\u2019s a great story of a woman in the workplace fighting.\u201d<\/p> \u201cThere\u2019s lots in it,\u201d added Bonham Carter. \u201cThere\u2019s loyalty, betrayal, friendship, there\u2019s a certain amount of misogyny, I would say, and how women are treated and were treated, particularly in the \u201970s and \u201980s. And a certain amount about ageism, too.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile Mark Gatiss \u2013 who plays entertainer Larry Grayson in the series<\/a> \u2013 said that it doesn\u2019t matter whether fans are already familiar with details of Crossroads, adding that \u201cit\u2019s a very moving and very funny story\u201d.<\/p>\n
