<\/p>
Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) made the noble decision to cover for his son, Kyle (Huey Quinn) for killing Al (Michael Woodman) on Emmerdale<\/a>\u00a0recently \u2013 a decision which landed him in jail.<\/p>\n While Cain is seemingly staring down the wrong end of a prison sentence for claiming his role in the murder, it seems actor Hordley wasn\u2019t always majorly keen on the thought of Cain wrapped up in this messy business.<\/p>\n And the drama is only set to ramp up for Cain in the coming weeks as his brother Caleb (William Ash) arrives with an axe to grind.<\/p> Speaking to press including RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Hordley admitted he was initially unsure about the vision for Cain as he said he was quite fond of where the character was at with his journey \u2013 but he definitely came round to the drama!<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll be honest, I thought, \u2018A younger Dingle \u2013 what are they doing that for? Are they trying to replace me?!\u2019 because you always get a little bit protective about your character, and then to bring in a similar character\u2026 but when I found out it was Will, I thought it was great.\u201d<\/p>\n Hordley added: \u201cIt feels as if Caleb\u2019s been here for a long time \u2013 the character is written so well. He\u2019s got charm that Will brings across really beautifully.\u201d<\/p>\n Likewise, Hordley wasn\u2019t always keen on the development with Kyle and how Cain takes the wrap, either.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a little like when I found out they were bringing in a younger brother. They said, \u2018So you shoot Al\u2026\u2019 I thought it\u2019s great Cain\u2019s finally killed someone!’\u201d<\/p>\n But when Hordley found out it was actually Kyle, he punched the air in glee.<\/p>\n \u201cI said, \u2018But Cain\u2019s alright, isn\u2019t he?!\u2019 and that\u2019s the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n As for what the future holds for Cain, stay tuned to find out more about the bad boy when Emmerdale airs a special Dingle flashback on Boxing Day.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Emmerdale<\/a>\u00a0airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
