Trouble\u2019s on his way to Emmerdale<\/a> as Cain Dingle\u2019s (played by Jeff Hordley) long-lost brother Caleb (William Ash) is due to arrive in the village at Christmas.<\/p>\n

Viewers will find out exactly why their relationship is so fraught in the coming weeks, but for now, viewers can expect fireworks between the brothers, according to Ash and Hordley.<\/p>\n

Speaking to press including RadioTimes.com<\/a> at a recent event, Ash hinted that Caleb could cause a lot of trouble when he arrives.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Caleb is] complex and layered because he comes in having this dark backstory having been adopted and put in care as a child. When he was in his teens, he finds Cain and tries to reconnect with his family.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s told by Cain that his mum\u2019s dead and to steer clear basically. Caleb spends most of his time growing up in care. So when he finds out that Faith wasn\u2019t dead, he comes into it on Christmas Day with a lot of anger and has an axe to grind with Cain.\u201d<\/p>

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of bitterness that he\u2019s holding on to, as you\u2019d expect from growing up without a family, not knowing his mother and missing out on the opportunity to get to know who he is. There\u2019s a lot going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, while tensions are undoubtedly fraught, Ash confirmed Caleb does want to reconnect with his family, having grown up without them.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though he\u2019s got an axe to grind, he does want to connect and needs to connect with Cain and with Chas as well, even though there\u2019s this simmering resentment and bitterness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ash continued: \u201cHe does want to start a relationship, as it were, but Cain\u2019s not keen on that. Whether it will end up going that way or not\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

As for how Cain takes it, viewers can expect him to be as sceptical as you\u2019d think.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe doesn\u2019t trust him because he\u2019s thinking, \u2018I\u2019ve lied to him in the past and he\u2019s going to want to do something to me\u2019,\u201d Hordley explained. \u201cThat\u2019s the way my character thinks. And that\u2019s because of the short history they had which we\u2019ll see in the flashback episode which explains an awful lot.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s also to do with the fact that Cain was looking after Chas on his own and it\u2019s like, \u2018Do we want to bring another person into this equation?\u2019 He was probably better off without us. So it\u2019s kind of a protection thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for what the future will bring, fans will simply have to keep watching Emmerdale to see if a relationship can be forged between the pair.<\/p>\n
