Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press ahead of the show\u2019s debut, Thomas \u2013 who is reprising his role as Donte Charles in the new season \u2013 revealed that there are \u201ca few surprises\u201d in the cast.<\/p>\n When asked which of his former cast members<\/a> from the original show he would like to make a cameo on the new Waterloo Road, Thomas said: \u201cI mean, there\u2019s so many and there\u2019ll be a few surprises along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n He went on to say that he would love Philip Martin Brown, who played Grantly Budgen, to return to the new show.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was such a huge character, not only on screen, but also off screen as well. He was an absolute joy to work with. When we were in that show, we were kids and we\u2019d look up to these guys like they were the giants.<\/p>\n \u201cJust the fact that we\u2019re surrounded by these guys and got to learn from them, we were just like sponges, really just trying to absorb as much from these guys as we could.\u201d<\/p> Thomas isn\u2019t the only original Waterloo Road star who\u2019s returning to the school drama, with Katie Griffiths back as Donte\u2019s childhood sweetheart Chlo and Angela Griffin reprising her long-running role as Kim Campbell<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cJust to be back again with Angela especially is just the icing on the cake as well for us,\u201d he added. \u201cBut there were so many different actors and characters that we worked with back then. It\u2019s hard to choose one. But I\u2019m just happy to have one of them back.\u201d<\/p>\n Waterloo Road airs Tuesday 3rd January 2023.
