He said of the special: \u201cThe prospect of doing a special episode of something that is on-going is always exciting. You want to make it different in its own way and a treat for the viewer. To do something where we can embrace the tradition of the ghost story of Christmas, which we\u2019ve never really done before, was brilliant.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were delighted to be asked to do it and then we hit upon this idea, and it\u2019s come together in a lovely way and is a real treat for Christmas. Even if it wasn\u2019t spooky, it\u2019s very Christmassy. I think it will be great to settle down and watch on a late December night and have your spine tingled.\u201d<\/p>\n

This special follows the show\u2019s seventh season which aired earlier this year, with an eighth and a ninth<\/a> both confirmed for the coming years.<\/p> However, after that it seems like the show may be coming to an end<\/a> \u2013 just last week Pemberton told The Sun<\/a> that the pair \u201cfeel it is a good time to pause Inside No. 9 after we finish filming season 9 next year.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re not saying it\u2019s over for good. After all, The League of Gentlemen came back, but we won\u2019t be looking to make any more episodes for the time being.\u201d<\/p>\n Inside No. 9: The Bones of St Nicholas will air at 9pm on Thursday 22nd December 2022 on BBC Two.
