The images teased the return of creator\/star Gervais as grieving widow Tony Johnson as well as many of the fan-favourite supporting characters \u2013 ahead of their final appearance as series three will definitely be the last<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe audience think they want another one but they don\u2019t know, they\u2019re not sure, so you\u2019ve got to be careful,\u201d Gervais explained.<\/p>\n There\u2019s still plenty to wrap up however before the show\u2019s finale however, including Tony\u2019s potential budding romance with nurse Emma (Ashley Jensen), his unresolved feelings following the death of his father (David Bradley) and, of course, the prospect of Tony allowing himself a happy ending.<\/p>\n However, we might not have to wait long to find all that out, as with filming now finished we might just see After Life return to the land of the living by the end of the year. I\u2019m not gonna just do it. <\/span>I wouldn\u2019t do it for the sake of it. I wouldn\u2019t do it just to get paid, or because they [Netflix] want another three hours on their platform. It\u2019s got to be that people really want more.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Read more: <\/strong>Ricky Gervais says After Life was harder to write than The Office<\/a><\/p>\n However, Gervais has signed a multi-year deal with Netflix that includes two more projects following After Life season three \u2013 so we may well see the comedian\u2019s unique brand of humour return in a brand new sitcom.<\/p> You can expect all of your After Life cast<\/a> favourites to return for any third season, including:<\/p>\n Back in July 2020, Gervais told GoldDerby<\/a> that he wasn\u2019t sure if Tony\u2019s relationship with Emma would have a happy ending. \u201cThat\u2019s the tricky bit, really, because he\u2019s sort of addicted to grief, as he said, because he knows where he is with it, because hope lets him down too much.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Mandeep Dillon told RadioTimes.com<\/strong> and other press that she\u2019d be keen for her character to \u201cbe on the up\u201d in a third season after being very much \u201con a low\u201d in the second as she struggled with some family issues. \u201cI think it\u2019s important to show that, and it\u2019s great that Ricky allowed me to show that, because so many people \u2013 we go through that all our lives. We go up and down.<\/p>\n \u201c[But] I\u2019d like her to have a few wins. I don\u2019t know what wins they would be. It\u2019s whatever Ricky decides, I guess. But it\u2019d be nice for her to start seeing a change in her life.\u201d<\/p>\n Comedian Joe Wilkinson has also talked of his hopes for a happy ending for Pat and Roxy, amid increasing speculation that the two characters could have a baby.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it might be nice if Pat and Roxy are solid. You know what I mean? If they had a really lovely relationship,\u201d Wilkinson told Digital Spy<\/a>.<\/p>\n He added: \u201cAnd a lottery win. Yeah, five numbers and a bonus ball \u2013 about 200 grand. How about that?
