Despite arriving in cinemas nearly 20 years ago, Love Actually<\/a> remains one of the biggest Christmas films (both in popularity and box office numbers) to date.<\/p>\n

From Hugh Grant\u2019s No. 10 dance number that he secretly hated filming<\/a> to Emma Thompson wiping away tears over Alan Rickman\u2019s infidelity to the stirring sound of Joni Mitchell, it was the Richard Curtis comedy\u2019s star-studded cast that initially drew in audiences and the same big names have kept them talking for two decades.<\/p>\n

However, as much as Love Actually is all about Keira \u201cI Look Quite Pretty\u201d Knightley, turtleneck king Colin Firth and a consistently semi-naked Billy Nighy, a lot of it\u00a0actually\u00a0<\/em>revolves around children. Whether they\u2019re the crustaceans in the school nativity, singing in the concert crashed by the prime minister, or Liam Neeson\u2019s stepson who learns the drums to impress his American crush, the Christmas flick features a number of young actors.<\/p>\n

Three of Love Actually\u2019s child stars sat down with RadioTimes.com<\/a> to chat about the BAFTA-winning festive film 20 years on.<\/p>

\u201cWhen people find out that I was in [Love Actually], the first thing they say is, \u2018Are you the octopus?\u2019 and I go, \u2018No.\u2019 And then they say, \u2018Are you the lobster?\u2019 And I go, \u2018No,’\u201d says Will Wadham, who played Bernie \u2013 the son of Harry (Rickman) and Karen (Thompson).<\/p>\n

\u201cThey just can\u2019t quite work out what my part was and then at that stage, I have to explain, \u2018Well, a lot of it was deleted \u2013 but you can see me for a split second under the Christmas tree, or dressed as an angel, I think.’\u201d<\/p>\n

While the role of Harry and Karen\u2019s youngest son Bernie is fairly minor in the film, Wadham, who is now 31-years-old and pursuing a career in film composition, was originally meant to be the focus of a wider narrative linked to his parents\u2019 strained relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to be a grumpy teenager which is basically what I was \u2013 I guess I didn\u2019t struggle too much with that,\u201d he says. \u201cThere was a whole character to Bernie. He has this moment with his mum where he\u2019s written these stupid essays about seeing people\u2019s farts because I think he\u2019s trying to get the attention of his parents.<\/p>\n
