The showrunner, who was at the helm of Doctor Who<\/a> from 2005 until 2010, told Total TV Guide<\/a> that while there\u2019s no Christmas special this year, fans should be prepared for the antics to come in 2023.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m sorry there\u2019s no special this year, but I absolutely promise, this time next year, you\u2019ll be staggered with the surprises we\u2019ve got in store.\u201d<\/p>\n While there\u2019s still a while to go before David Tennant returns to our screens as the Doctor, the BBC has already been busy feeding fans details about the upcoming specials and beyond, with Davies recently confirming that season 14 \u2013 Ncuti Gatwa\u2019s first series \u2013 will have eight episodes<\/a>.<\/p>\n Last weekend, the show unveiled Ncuti Gatwa\u2019s costume as The Fifteenth Doctor<\/a> and earlier this month, Davies confirmed that Doctor Who would be back for a Christmas special in 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cFor the first time ever, I\u2019m writing a Christmas Special\u2026 at Christmas!\u201d he said. \u201cThe 2023 script has been long since signed-off.
