Returning Doctor Who boss Russell T Davies has promised that his comeback will deliver \u201clots of content\u201d with \u201cno gap years\u201d between series<\/a> \u2013 and now former colleague Mark Gatiss has suggested that this \u201cregularity\u201d will be key to the show\u2019s future success.<\/p>\n

Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a> to promote Count Magnus<\/a> \u2013 his latest M R James adaptation for the BBC\u2019s A Ghost Story for Christmas strand \u2013 Gatiss insisted that, despite having formerly contributed scripts to Doctor Who<\/a> and remaining friends with Davies, he\u2019s not sitting on a huge amount of insider info about the next instalment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know a thing. The only thing was\u2026 Russell came to Nolly<\/a> [Davies\u2019 ITVX<\/a> drama, in which Gatiss plays TV entertainer Larry Grayson<\/a>] on my last day in Manchester and it took about four-and-a-half seconds for us to talk about Doctor Who! And then he showed me the regeneration from Jodie into David<\/a> and that was very exciting, so I held on to that as a little piece of the Key to Time for a bit\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut no, I know nothing. I really know nothing. I haven\u2019t a clue. And that\u2019s a lovely feeling, to just be watching as a viewer. I\u2019ve no idea what the structure is, or what\u2019s happened. Who is David? He is the Fourteenth Doctor, isn\u2019t he? So what\u2019s happened? Who has done that? The only clue is, he says, \u2018I don\u2019t know who I am anymore.’\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

With a chuckle, Gatiss added: \u201cI suspect some kind of celestial<\/em> intervention!\u201d (So we can chalk him up as one more fan who suspects that Neil Patrick Harris is playing classic Doctor Who villain The Celestial Toymaker<\/a> and that it is he who\u2019s responsible for the Fourteenth Doctor\u2019s old\/new face.)<\/span><\/p>\n
