After premiering on Netflix<\/a> like clockwork every March for three years running, fans have had to go without their usual spring fix of On My Block this time around.<\/p>\n

However the good news is that filming on season four has now been completed, so it shouldn\u2019t be too long before Monse and the rest of the squad are back on our screens.<\/p>\n

The bad news is that season four will be the show\u2019s last, with the LA-based show finally wrapping up the inner city teens\u2019 journey through high school.<\/p>\n

The series has received consistent critical acclaim for its spot-on comedy, realistic portrayal of timely societal issues and diverse cast, so here\u2019s hoping that the final season will come in for just as much praise.<\/p>\n

On My Block season 4 release date<\/h2>\n

Netflix has renewed the show for a fourth and final 10-episode season, but have not yet released any details about when we can expect it to debut.<\/p>\n

The last three seasons dropped in March on consecutive years \u2013 but this of course did not happen with season four due to disruptions to production caused by the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

Filming began in March 2020, with Diego Tinoco showing off his new hairdo now his character Cesar is head of the Santos gang.<\/p>\n

With filming now complete and the show not expected to have an overly lengthy post-production period, On My Block season 4 may well arrive by late 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll keep this page updated as and when we get more news about an official release date.<\/p>

On My Block season 4 cast<\/h2>\n

All the key cast members are expected to return \u2013 which includes Sierra Capri (American Skin) as headstrong group leader Monse Finnie, Diego Tinoco (Teen Wolf) as gang affiliate Cesar Diaz, Jason Genoa (Logan) as maths whiz \u00a0Ruby Martinez and Brett Gray (When They See Us) as geeky Jamal Turner.<\/p>\n

The Middle\u2019s Jessica Marie Garcia is also likely to return as Ruby\u2019s love interest Jasmine Flores, as is Julio Macias\u2019 gang member Spooky Diaz after getting promoted to the main cast in season three.<\/p>\n

On My Block season 4 plot<\/h2>\n

Season three saw the friends kidnapped by the Santos gang and forced to find the mob\u2019s founder Lil\u2019 Ricky, and ended with a surprise two-year time jump which saw our favourite squad members no longer in touch and busy with their own lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s probably one of the most realistic endings that I think we\u2019ve had,\u201d Capri told Entertainment Tonight<\/a> about the season three ending. \u201cPeople evolve and they grow, and sometimes they grow apart. The way that you were two years ago is different [from how you are now].\u201d<\/p>\n

We therefore expect much of season four will be filling in the gaps that saw such a radical change for the lifelong friends. The biggest unanswered questions from the flash-forward include how Spooky apparently got out of gang life, why Jamal is back to playing football and what happened between Ruby and Jamal that caused the two to stop speaking.<\/p>\n

Most importantly, however, we want to know why the squad has grown apart \u2013 and if they\u2019ll reunite in time for a satisfying finale.<\/p>\n

Cesar\u2019s future was easily the most shocking transformation of all after replacing his brother as the head of the Santos gang \u2013 an ending Tinoco said was \u201cheartbreaking\u201d to read.<\/p>\n

However he\u2019s also hoping his character could still end up with Monse, and added that he has big hopes for season four.<\/p>\n

\u201cI trust the writers and the story isn\u2019t over yet, just like life,\u201d Tinoco told ET. \u201cI mean, he\u2019s dealt with so much traumatic stuff going on in his life\u2026so much trauma that you\u2019re gonna have a little bit of a crash.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many American fans have noticed that the show\u2019s age rating has changed from a TV-14 to TV-MA \u2013 which could be a hint that season four will be much darker than previous instalments.<\/p>\n

In January 2021 the show\u2019s social media accounts jumped on the popular spoilers without context trend, teasing important elements of the upcoming season without an explanation. Your guess is as good as ours as to what these objects could mean, but the appearance of a crashed car and flowers has many fans worried about a possible death\u2026<\/p>\n
