The aftermath of Mick Carter\u2019s tragic exit on Christmas Day<\/a> and Janine Butcher\u2019s arrest in Boxing Day\u2019s episode<\/a> continues to play out on-screen.<\/p>\n The Queen Vic pub remains closed after Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) left Walford to tell Mick\u2019s children of his disappearance.<\/a><\/p>\n On Wednesday\u2019s episode (28th December 2022), Janine\u2019s daughter Scarlett overheard Martin Fowler (James Bye) and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) recall Janine\u2019s history of killing her husbands, having previously murdered Barry Evans and Michael Moon, the latter being Scarlett\u2019s father.<\/p>\n Scarlett later asked her uncle Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen) about what she had overheard but he did not wish to traumatise her further.<\/p> Ricky also revealed to his former sister-in-law Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) that Janine had been charged with perverting the course of justice and would be in court that day.<\/p>\n He denied the idea that Janine was evil despite her crimes, noting that she was still his sister.<\/p>\n Around Walford, news of Mick\u2019s tragic disappearance spread like wildfire, with his friends Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths), Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman), and Tom \u201cRocky\u201d Cotton (Brian Conley) mourning together with a helping hand from Zack Hudson (James Farrar).<\/p>\n Zack was also present to comfort a grieving Whitney Dean (Shona McCarty) \u2013 Mick\u2019s former daughter-in-law and one-time flame \u2013 who is now pregnant with Zack\u2019s child.<\/p>\n However, across the Square, Mick\u2019s broken mother Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) had drunk herself into a stupor but was supported by friends Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright).<\/p>\n Unlike her previous hopes when sister Tina Carter disappeared \u2013 later confirmed to have been murdered by serial killer Gray Atkins \u2013 Shirley was adamant that Mick was dead.<\/p>\n Shirley also blamed herself for not stopping Janine\u2019s presence in the Carter family earlier before she could harm them all.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Scarlett ran away from Sonia\u2019s house and visited the Queen Vic pub and approached Shirley.<\/p>\n Shirley, however, reacted with anger to the young girl\u2019s presence.<\/p>\n Despite Scarlett noting that she loved Mick too, Shirley screamed at her to \u201cGET OUT!\u201d, scaring Scarlett, who then fled.<\/p>\n Tomorrow\u2019s episode will see Shirley approach Scarlett as she realises she had been targeting her anger at the wrong person, but will this help either of them find the closure they seek?<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Visit our dedicated\u00a0EastEnders<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>page for all the latest news, interviews and spoilers.\u00a0<\/strong>If you\u2019re looking for more to watch, check out our\u00a0TV Guide<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0Streaming Guide<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n The Christmas double issue of Radio Times magazine is on sale now<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<\/strong>subscribe now<\/strong><\/a>.
