One of the highly anticipated movie releases for the tail end of 2022 has undoubtedly been Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Glass Onion was streamed 82.1 million hours in the first three days since its release on Friday 23rd December, Netflix revealed on Tuesday 27th.<\/p>\n

The new Knives Out sequel<\/a> has, of course, been watched over a staggering amount of hours but has actually missed out on the major debut hot spot.<\/p>\n

Although 82.1 million hours is impressive, Glass Onion<\/a> is Netflix\u2019s sixth-biggest film debut. It comes behind Sandra Bullock\u2019s The Unforgivable<\/a> (85.86 million hours) and The Gray Man<\/a>, the Ryan Gosling action film that drew in 88.55 million hours this past July.<\/p>\n

Those two releases hold Netflix\u2019s number five and number four debut spots, respectively, since the streaming giant began releasing such records in 2021. The other top five rankings belong to Red Notice<\/a>\u00a0(148.72 million hours),\u00a0Don\u2019t Look Up<\/a>\u00a0(111.03 million hours) and\u00a0The Adam Project<\/a> (92.43 million hours).<\/p>\n

The new Rian Johnson film has only renewed conversations about collaborative cinematic releases, with Glass Onion being released for one week in cinemas and now, on Netflix.<\/p>\n

Netflix did not report grosses, but distribution sources told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> at the time that it brought in around $13 million over the five-day holiday.<\/p>\n

Although the new film may not be in Netflix\u2019s top five film debuts, there\u2019s no denying that the murder mystery has captivated audiences. With a brand new case on his hands, Benoit Blanc (played by Daniel Craig) returns as the elusive detective tasked with figuring out the complicated murders before him \u2013 and the secretive group of friends he\u2019s found himself in the middle of.<\/p>

With a brand new star-studded cast<\/a> as well, Glass Onion is very much its own entity of a film, according to film star Kate\u00a0Hudson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Hudson stressed that despite the connection to Knives Out, it was very quickly apparent that Glass Onion is very much its own thing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was no question in my mind \u2013 I came in, like most audiences would come in, to see this next franchise picture of Knives Out thinking of the first one,\u201d said Hudson.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd within the first 20 minutes of the read \u2013 and I think it\u2019s the same in the movie \u2013 you\u2019re just so out of the last film and you\u2019re so in with these characters and this whole new world that you\u2019re in.\u201d<\/p>\n

A third Knives Out film has already been confirmed and is already in development.<\/p>\n
