Everything we know about Angela Black, ITV’s new thriller starring Joanne Froggatt. <\/p>

Joanne Froggatt is returning to our screens in Angela Black \u2013 a brand new ITV drama written by Harry and Jack Williams (Baptiste, The Missing, Liar).<\/p>\n

A Hitchcockian thriller starring The Flight Attendant<\/a>\u2018s Michiel Huisman and The Hatton Garden Job\u2019s Samuel Adewunmi, Angela Black sees Downton Abbey\u2019s Froggatt take on the titular role \u2013 a woman who risks her seemingly idyllic life to fight back against her controlling, abusive husband.<\/p>\n

While ITV has not yet revealed a huge deal about the upcoming drama, the broadcaster recently published two first-look images showing Froggatt, Huisman and Adewunmi as their characters.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s everything we know so far about Angela Black and when it\u2019ll be premiering on ITV.<\/p>\n

As soon as there\u2019s an air date for the six-part series, we\u2019ll be sure to update this page.<\/p>\n

Filming commenced in London in October 2020, so fingers crossed it won\u2019t be too long to wait.<\/p>

From the outside, Angela\u2019s life is one to envy. She has a beautiful house, a handsome, hard-working husband (Olivier) and two wonderful sons, and spends her days volunteering at a dogs\u2019 home.<\/p>\n

Behind closed doors, however, lies a different, much darker story: Angela has been a victim of domestic abuse for years and can see no way out of her tormented marriage.<\/p>\n

That is, until a private investigator named Ed approaches her out of the blue with some shocking truths about her husband; information that leaves her reeling. In an instant, her life changes: but can she really trust Ed? Can she leave behind life as she knows it? And can Angela finally free herself from Olivier?<\/p>\n

After keeping fans utterly gripped in Liar, Joanne Froggatt is back for another dose of mind-bending drama as Angela Black\u2019s lead character.<\/p>\n

Speaking about her involvement in the project,\u00a0she said: \u201cI am honoured to be working with Two Brothers Pictures again and this important and timely story from the brilliant Harry and Jack Williams is like nothing I\u2019ve read before.<\/p>\n

\u201cAngela is a complex and intriguing character and I hope audiences will be immediately drawn into her gripping, and sometimes heart-breaking journey, just as I was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michiel Huisman stars as Angela\u2019s abusive husband, Olivier \u2013 though you may recognise him from Game of Thrones and his recent role as slain businessman Alex in The Flight Attendant<\/a>. On his excitement to take on this more sinister role, Huisman commented: \u201cI\u2019m proud to be part of such a thrilling and clever story with so many twists and turns.\u201d<\/p>\n

Samuel Adewunmi (The Hatton Garden Job, The Last Tree) plays private investigator Ed, a character he describes as one he \u201calways finds [himself] drawn to\u201d.<\/p>\n
