With the dawn of the New Year came the return of one hugely-anticipated series: Happy Valley<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Airing weekly on BBC One every Sunday at 9pm, the episode 1 cliffhanger has already left many viewers impatient for the following episode of season 3<\/a>. And for good reason \u2013 it was one hell of an ending.<\/p>\n

Spoiler warning<\/strong> from here if you haven\u2019t yet watched it.<\/p>\n\nNot only were viewers re-introduced to the beloved <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/happy-valley-season-3-cast\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Happy Valley cast<\/a>, they were also left reeling by the fact that a mysterious \u201cman and woman\u201d were accompanying 16-year-old Ryan (Rhys Connah) to go and visit his father, Tommy Lee Royce (<a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/james-norton-happy-valley-big-rt-interview\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">James Norton<\/a>), in prison.<\/p>\nThe surprise admission comes when Sergeant Catherine Cawood\u2019s (Sarah Lancashire) Inspector, Mike Taylor (Rick Warden), tells her he\u2019s received a phone call from a prison liaison officer in Dewsbury.<\/p>\nThe officer informed him of ongoing rumours about Catherine\u2019s grandson\u2019s visitation, and Taylor relays the news to Catherine, who initially dismisses it.<\/p>\nCatherine can\u2019t quite believe her grandson could be capable of organising such a trip but as the first episode draws to a close, Mike approaches Catherine\u2019s office days later, telling her that he has took to Twitter<\/a> to run a viewer poll.<\/p>\nA total of 10.6% of voters opted for Daniel and Ann, 9.1% voted for Richard and Roz and 12.1% voted for another possibility entirely.
