Emmerdale\u00a0fans are convinced the village\u2019s new resident nanny<\/a> is hiding a connection to a past character.<\/p>\n

Nanny Nicky, played by newcomer Lewis Cope, has won the heart of Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) and the resistance of Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) with his affable demeanour.<\/p>\n

Hired to look after Gabby\u2019s son with Jamie Tate (Alex Lincoln) and Dawn\u2019s children, Nicky exhibits a natural talent with the little ones, though some viewers are sure he isn\u2019t entirely harmless.<\/p>\n

According to some Emmerdale lovers, Gabby could be in for yet more romantic disappointment, as they think Nicky may soon be revealed to be in cahoots with none other than Jamie Tate.<\/p>\n

The nanny could be helping Jamie, who faked his own death last year, steal his son and get back at his mother Kim (Claire King).<\/p>\n

Similarly, some believe Nicky is working with Dawn\u2019s ex Alex (Liam Boyle) to get his revenge, possibly involving his son Lucas.<\/p>\n

Other viewers think the nanny may know \u2013 or even be (!) \u2013 Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), who was forced to leave the village in 2018 after his step-grandmother Kim tried to have him killed.<\/p>\n

\u201cNicky the Nanny is far too happy,\u201d one fan shared on Twitter<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s either because he is new to <\/span>#Emmerdale<\/span> and hasn\u2019t been dragged down yet by life in the village (or being bossed around by Kim, Dawn and Gabby) or he is up to something, always the way.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI wonder if Nicky is an accomplice of Joe Tate?\u201d one person commented<\/a>, while another wrote<\/a>: \u201cThat Nicky is definitely related to Alex isn\u2019t he?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIs Nicky really Joe Tate with one of those Mission Impossible disguises on?\u201d another fan joked<\/a>, posting a Mission: Impossible GIF of Tom Cruise\u2019s Ethan Hunt revealing himself under a Jim Phelps (Jon Voight) mask.<\/p>\n

A bit far-fetched perhaps, but it sure wouldn\u2019t be the first wild twist a soap has ever aired\u2026<\/p>\n

For his part, Cope seems to quietly side with these suspicious fans, previously confirming Nicky is \u201calmost too good to be true\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the moment, he\u2019s a lovely person, he kind of fits the bill. He\u2019s almost too good to be true,\u201d Cope said.<\/p>\n

However, he didn\u2019t rule out Nicky having any dark secrets, saying: \u201cWe\u2019ll have to wait and see!\u201d<\/p>
