The government\u2019s plan to privatise Channel 4 appears to have been scrapped, with Culture Secretary Michelle Donelan having written to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak advising him against going ahead with the policy.<\/p>\n
Donelan\u2019s letter was shared on Twitter<\/a> by The News Agents journalist Lewis Goodall, and sees the politician outline her conclusion that \u201cpursuing a sale at this point is not the right decision and there are better ways to secure C4C\u2019s (Channel 4 Corporation) sustainability\u201d.<\/p>\n She also said the channel\u2019s role supporting the independent production sector \u201cwould be very disrupted by a sale at a time when growth and economic stability are our priorities\u201d.<\/p>\n SCOOP: Letter from Culture Secretary Michelle Donelan to Rishi Sunak confirming her recommendation is that Channel 4 privatisation does NOT go ahead.
