Russell T Davies has reassured fans that Doctor Who is the \u201csame show\u201d it always has been, amid fears of changes as the show is now a co-production with Disney Plus<\/a>.<\/p>\n The streaming service bagged the international distribution rights for the long-running series, which will remain exclusive to BBC One and iPlayer in the UK.<\/p>\n The show\u2019s budget has reportedly increased as a result of this partnership although Davies recently debunked rumours<\/a> that it has inflated to an enormous \u00a310 million per episode.<\/p>\n In the latest Doctor Who Magazine<\/a>, he also explained that fans needn\u2019t be worried that Disney\u2019s involvement will have a negative impact on the narrative of the show.<\/p>\n \u201cI know people are, naturally, worried about American producers having notes on things. Well, don\u2019t be. They\u2019re giving excellent notes,\u201d he began.<\/p> \u201cAnd I\u2019m here to tell you, you haven\u2019t watched a drama on British television in 20 years that hasn\u2019t had American notes on it. Everything is a co-production\u2026 it\u2019s really, completely normal.\u201d<\/p>\n Davies added: \u201cAnd if you want any more reassurance, let me just tell you that we\u2019re about to transmit the words \u2018Mavic Chen\u2019 on television for the first time since 1966. It is absolutely the same show.\u201d<\/p>\n His final comment is a reference to an obscure Doctor Who<\/a> villain, who was President of the Solar System in the far future and entered into an unholy alliance with the Daleks in order to tighten his grip on power.<\/p>
