Power producer 50 Cent has announced plans to produce a television series inspired by 8 Mile, the 2002 semi-autobiographical drama which starred Eminem in the lead role.<\/p>\n
The rapper has become prolific on the small screen since producing crime drama Power, which ran for six seasons and spawned three spin-offs titled Ghost<\/a>, Raising Kanan<\/a> and Force<\/a> respectively.<\/p>\n Now, the musician also known as Curtis Jackson, is teaming up with Eminem for a fresh take on the 8 Mile story, which he claims will set out to honour the rapper\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m gonna bring his 8 Mile to television,\u201d Jackson told YouTube channel Big Boy TV<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re in motion. It\u2019s gonna be big. I ain\u2019t got no duds. I\u2019m batting a hundred, I\u2019m batting a hundred.\u201d<\/p> He continued: \u201cI think it should be there for his legacy, because if you don\u2019t see\u2026 it\u2019s important to me that they understand it, you know what I mean?\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s certainly prestigious material to revisit as the original film was a box office hit and earned strong reviews from critics, including an Academy Award for Best Original Song (which went to Eminem\u2019s own \u2018Lose Yourself\u2019).<\/p>\n Following the interview, Jackson confirmed on Instagram<\/a> that he was \u201cserious\u201d about the 8 Mile project, although no broadcaster, streaming service or release date has been announced just yet.<\/p>
