Love Island is back for season 9, with the second winter season set to take place in South Africa from Monday 16th January.<\/p>\n

As well as a brand new location<\/a>, contestants and some new\u00a0social media rules<\/a>, which will see the Love Island 2023 cast<\/a> pausing their accounts while filming on the show, there\u2019s a brand new host in town.<\/p>\n

TV presenter Maya Jama will make her Love Island<\/a> debut this year, taking over from Laura Whitmore who stepped down from the show<\/a> last year after three seasons.<\/p>\n

Maya Jama is a TV presenter, radio presenter and DJ. Originally from Bristol, Maya moved to London in 2012 to pursue a career in media first as an actress, before moving into TV presenting and modelling.<\/p>\n

Jama made her presenting debut as a teenager, presenting the weekly music video countdown on JumpOff.TV, and later worked for Sky UK<\/span>\u00a0on TRACE Sports.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since then, she\u2019s gone on to build quite an impressive CV.<\/p>\n

She co-presented Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer<\/span> alongside former footballer Peter Crouch<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0Alex Horne,\u00a0<\/span>and is the presenter of the BBC Three<\/span>\u00a0competition\u00a0Glow Up: Britain\u2019s Next Make-Up Star, which she joined from season 3.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 28-year-old also presented MTV\u2019s True Love or True Lies, and she hosted the first season of The Circle\u00a0with\u00a0Alice Levine\u00a0on\u00a0Channel 4, before Emma Willis took over.<\/p>\n
