The X Factor winner has spoken about the show’s cancellation after 15 years. <\/p>

Alexandra Burke has said she is \u201cactually quite sad\u201d to see The X Factor leave our screens after winning the reality competition 13 years ago.<\/p>\n

The Bad Boys singer, who won the show in 2008, t0ld The Guardian<\/a> that she was disappointed to hear the ITV series was being discontinued last month, adding: \u201cI did have a wonderful experience on it.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked whether her experience on The X Factor had been a positive one, Burke said: \u201cI had a mum in the industry so you couldn\u2019t walk over me \u2013 not with the mother I had.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mum would be there and she\u2019d be very strong. Not everyone has that person in their life.\u201d<\/p>\n

ITV confirmed in July that The X Factor would not be returning for another series<\/a> after 15 years on the air.<\/p>

Burke competed on the fifth series of The X Factor, beating out JLS and Eoghan Quigg in the final with her duet of Listen alongside Beyonc\u00e9.\u00a0<\/section>

\u201cI only found out about that less than 24 hours before. Simon [Cowell] gave me the call at midnight. He\u2019d just secured the deal and said: \u2018Kid, we\u2019ve got Beyonc\u00e9 singing with you tomorrow.\u2019 I hung up the phone and then called him back to say: \u2018Sorry, babe, did you say Beyonc\u00e9?\u2019,\u201d Burke said.<\/section>
\u201cWhen Beyonc\u00e9 arrived, I walked in, I cried. I wasted all our rehearsal time crying. Her mum [Tina Knowles] cried. Cheryl [Cole] cried. Everyone\u2019s crying because I\u2019m telling Beyonc\u00e9 how much I love her.\u201d<\/section>
After winning, Burke went on to secure UK number one hits with Hallelujah, Bad Boys and Start Without You.\u00a0<\/section>
