Long-time weather presenter Carol Kirkwood<\/a> has spoken about the emergence of other news channels, saying that the competition from them \u201ckeeps you sharp\u201d.<\/p>\n

The BBC Breakfast presenter spoke to RadioTimes.com<\/a>\u00a0for an exclusive interview ahead of BBC Breakfast\u2019s\u00a0 40th anniversary<\/a>, and revealed that she feels \u201cit\u2019s good to have competition\u201d.<\/p>\n

Talking about the emergence of GB News and Talk TV<\/a>, she said: \u201cI think that\u2019s just what\u2019s going to happen in future isn\u2019t it? And it\u2019s good to have competition, if you want to call it that, because it keeps you sharp.\u201d<\/p>

She explained: \u201cYou want to be on top of your game if there\u2019s other people out there who are doing the same thing. But because they are on at the same time as me in the morning I don\u2019t get to see them. So I would be pretending if I said I knew what they were doing, and that\u2019s terrible, but really, it\u2019s really busy.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause when I\u2019m not on air I\u2019m looking at the weather and the observations, I\u2019m looking at the weather watchers\u2019 pictures, I\u2019m looking at where the radar is, I\u2019m looking at the gusts of wind or whatever, so I\u2019ve got my head down from the moment I get in.\u201d<\/p>\n
