Tommy is on a revenge mission, but it could very well lead to his own demise. **WARNING: SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3 EPISODE 5** <\/p>

With only one episode of Happy Valley<\/a> left to go, everything\u2019s in place for the kind of \u201cdramatic\u201d showdown<\/a> Sally Wainwright initially teased for season 3<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tommy\u2019s in hiding, Ryan\u2019s the only person outside of the Knezevics<\/a> that knows Tommy\u2019s international escape plans and the stage has been set for the father-son duo<\/a> to ride off into the distance. But that would just be far too much of an easy ending, wouldn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

Instead, we finish episode 5 thinking that Ryan could very well dob his father in, and also that Tommy\u2019s perfectly laid out plan will almost certainly not go that way.<\/p>\n

Why, though? Well, on top of dealing with one of the most notorious criminals in Halifax, Tommy is also intent on carrying out one last revenge mission against Catherine (Sarah Lancashire<\/a>).<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unsurprising for us all watching but when he admits as much to Darius (Alec Secareanu), he looks at him with the kind of pity only reserved for a person that may not live to carry out their mission in the first place.<\/p>

When driving him to his newfound temporary home, Darius runs Tommy through his travel plans. \u201cHe\u2019s going to sort you out with everything you need, you and the boy,\u201d he explains, but even in the way that Tommy speaks about going abroad for the first time, Darius laughs.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s something completely childlike about Tommy, from the way he speaks to the way he acts around Ryan, almost making the pair seem as though they\u2019re both 16 years old and not father and son. It\u2019s this immature attitude around his unflinching desire to kill Catherine that may be his ultimate undoing.<\/p>\n

Darius is aware of Tommy\u2019s \u201clittle bit of business\u201d but double checks that it\u2019s not \u201cthat police woman\u201d. Tommy simply laughs, drinks and asks Darius if he can get him a gun.<\/p>\n

Later on, Darius smiles and reminds Tommy: \u201cA\u00a0week from now, you\u2019ll be in Marbella \u2013 you and your boy, laughing your socks off, alright?\u201d<\/p>\n

Then adds: \u201cBut Tommy, this business with this policewoman. I\u2019m going to be honest, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a good idea. You\u2019re going to get this new life with your boy. If you fix that police woman, all sorts of s**t is going to kick in and it makes me uncomfortable.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think you should let it go. We\u2019ve been really clever with all this, you\u2019re out. You do something crazy like that? Can\u2019t guarantee what happens.\u201d<\/p>\n
