Now that we\u2019re past the midway point in Call the Midwife<\/a> season 12, thoughts inevitably turn to the future. Thankfully for fans, they don\u2019t need to worry about the hit period drama going off their screens following this run of episodes.<\/p>\n

The series has already been commissioned for a whopping 13th season, meaning there is certainly more to come from Nonnatus House. But how about beyond that?<\/p>\n

RadioTimes.com<\/a> caught up with the show\u2019s stars Helen George, Megan Cusack and Olly Rix exclusively at last night\u2019s Radio Times Covers Party, and when asked whether there have been any conversations about the show\u2019s future beyond season 13, Cusack said: \u201cWe haven\u2019t heard any, but we never know anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

George added: \u201cWe know nothing, yeah. We\u2019ll wait and see but we\u2019ve got one more season which is amazing.\u201d Meanwhile, Rix agreed that they will have to \u201cwait and see\u201d.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time the show\u2019s creator and stars have spoken about the series\u2019s future. Creator Heidi Thomas<\/a> previously told RadioTimes.com<\/strong> that she would like to explore the 1970s in future seasons, saying: \u201cThe order of nuns on whom the Nonnatus nuns are based stay in the East End until 1976, but I think, more importantly than that single historic fact, is that of women\u2019s lives and the lives of the working classes as well\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are so many stories to tell, medically, socially, even emotionally, and I think we could keep on going.\u201d<\/p>

Meanwhile, Shelagh Turner star Laura Main recently said<\/a>: \u201cWell, we know about season 13 \u2013 that was announced a long time ago, but we don\u2019t know about 14. We haven\u2019t heard anything. I honestly don\u2019t know anything about beyond 13. Not yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the Radio Times Covers Party, George also spoke about how important it was for viewers to see more intimate, supportive scenes between Trixie and Matthew, calling them \u201cpivotal\u201d<\/a> to the storyline and the characters.<\/p>\n
