It\u2019s official \u2013 season 2 of Sky Max\u2019s slick sci-fi series The Lazarus Project<\/a> is on its way this year.<\/p>\n

The series, created by Giri\/Haji\u2019s Joe Barton proved popular<\/a> with viewers and critics alike, with plenty of viewers keen to find out what will happen next.<\/p>\n

To keep us going, the broadcaster has released some first-look images.<\/p>\n

Paapa Essiedu is back as George and can be seen both inside the base and out in combat gear, while other images show behind-the-scenes of the filming on season 2.<\/p>\n

Essiedu plays an app developer whose sense of deja vu turns out to be awareness that Earth\u2019s timeline is being reset. This leads him to be recruited by The Lazarus Project, an organisation that prevents world-destroying events by turning back the clock.<\/p>\n

Cast including Anjli Mohindra, Charly Clive, Rudi Dharmalingam, Caroline Quentin and Tom Burke are also back to reprise their roles, while we\u2019ve also got some new faces to look forward to.<\/p>\n

Barton previously told RadioTimes.com<\/a> that season 2 was \u201cthe hardest thing I\u2019ve ever had to do,\u201d calling the period between getting recommissioned and shooting commencing \u201cvery, very tight\u201d and \u201cstressful\u201d.<\/p>\n

He also referred to the plot as \u201cso complicated\u201d<\/a>, hinting at even more twists and turns for George and his fellow Lazarus Project agents next season.<\/p>

In fact, Barton also hinted at the possibility of introducing other ex-agents<\/a> after Tom Burke\u2019s character Rebrov was described as one of many Lazarus Project traitors.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s something we\u2019d probably explore more if we get further series. And that idea of what the toll is on these people who do this thing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sky has confirmed the sci-fi drama will arrive in 2023 so fans don\u2019t have too long to wait.<\/p>\n

Season 1 arrived on 16th June 2022, so we could see season 2 as early as summer 2023 <\/strong>to keep the gap between them to around a year.<\/p>\n
