Unlike its predecessor Death in Paradise, which is filmed in <\/span>the Caribbean \u2013 Guadeloupe, to be precise<\/a> \u2013 spin-off <\/span>Beyond Paradise is both set and shot in the UK.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Caribbean is a tough act to follow,\u201d said executive writer and producer Tony Jordan. \u201cThere are lots of beautiful places in the UK, and it was a tough choice. \u201c<\/span><\/p>\n

Executive producer Tim Key added: <\/span>\u201cWe knew it had to be set somewhere beautiful and, in the UK, we are spoilt for choice.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Where is Beyond Paradise set?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Beyond Paradise is set in the fictional town of Shipton Abbott in the very real county of Devon.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe town is beautiful, situated near the coast, full of character,\u201d said Key. \u201cIt\u2019s set slightly back from the coast, so we have all sorts of story worlds to dive into, including the folklore of the town, which is touched upon in episode 1.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Humphrey Goodman\u2019s partner Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton), who first met the detective (Kris Marshall) while holidaying on the island of Saint Marie, was born and raised there. It might look sleepy on the surface, but there\u2019s never a dull day.<\/p>
