It looks like Trixie and Matthew’s wedding won’t be completely plain sailing. <\/p>
Fans of Call the Midwife<\/a> are hugely looking forward to Trixie and Matthew\u2019s wedding in Sunday\u2019s season 12 finale \u2013 but star Helen George has revealed that the episode will include some bad news.<\/p>\n Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a>\u2019s Abby Robinson during a\u00a0live Q&A<\/a>, George teased that although the wedding would be \u201cincredibly romantic\u201d<\/a> there would also be \u201ctragedy\u201d to contend with.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of romance to it,\u201d she said. \u201cI do think it\u2019s incredibly romantic. And there are problems along the way. There are teething problems with the wedding.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd we\u2019re introduced to Trixie\u2019s brother Geoffrey, who\u2019s so much fun and becomes the wedding planner as well. There\u2019s a bit of a sort of My Best Friend\u2019s Wedding vibe about it. There\u2019s a lot of calamity and fun to be had with it.<\/p>\n \u201cBut of course, it\u2019s Call the Midwife, so there\u2019s a flip side and there\u2019s a downside. There\u2019s a tragedy. But there\u2019s also a very beautiful pay-off. And I hope people will really enjoy the wedding because we did.\u201d<\/p> \u00a0<\/p>\n George didn\u2019t give anything else away about the nature of the tragedy \u2013 but fans will certainly be hoping it isn\u2019t anything too severe.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Matthew actor Olly Rix revealed that he thought the wedding was \u201cpretty special\u201d, particularly given fans will get to see everybody in the church together.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cMatthew\u2019s newer to this world, but he\u2019s fully invested in it,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd he really cares about the people and he cares about them for their own merits, not just because they\u2019re important to Trixie.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s easy to think of Matthew as somebody who\u2019s doing these things to impress Trixie or to keep her journey going.
