It\u2019s the day we\u2019ve all been waiting for: the Call the Midwife<\/a> season 12 finale.<\/p>\n

While it was pushed back on account of the BAFTAs<\/a>, all eyes are on the final episode of the beloved BBC drama to see\u00a0Trixie and Matthew<\/a> finally tie the knot.<\/p>\n

Speaking in this week\u2019s Radio Times magazine<\/strong>, series stars Helen George and Olly Rix talked about the \u201cbeautiful\u201d wedding day \u2013 but it wasn\u2019t without its own fair share of drama.<\/p>\n

On the subject of whether or not Trixie\u2019s sense of perfectionism is something that George can relate to, the actress said: \u201cI think it\u2019s natural for any woman to want to get it completely right \u2013 it\u2019s an important day in anyone\u2019s life.\u201d<\/p>\n

But George admitted not everything went entirely to plan filming for the big day. Recalling a small costume issue, she said: \u201cSomething did go wrong on the day of filming, too. We\u2019d been given pizzas, because everyone was starving. And poor Meghan [Cusack, who plays Nancy Corrigan] got grease all over her bridesmaid\u2019s dress. That was a drama.\u201d<\/p>\n

But can we expect any further drama in the happy couple\u2019s future? Rix thinks not, highlighting their characters\u2019 relationship as being a definite love match.<\/p>\n

He says: \u201cIt\u2019s absolutely that. There\u2019s nothing facile or easy about their relationship. They\u2019ve gone through a lot, especially grief. Trixie helped him learn how to raise a child and Matthew lost his own father just prior to the wedding. That they didn\u2019t postpone is testament to how vital it is for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although the grease on the bridesmaid\u2019s dress didn\u2019t derail the festivities, George also confirms that \u201cit was a long day\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did go over our schedule by about an hour and a half. But it was also a beautiful day. There was a real sense of occasion. And it was lovely that all the cast got to be together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although sneak peeks of the anticipated finale show an explosive row between Trixie and Matthew<\/a> before the nuptials, we just know it\u2019s going to be the kind of heartwarming finale we expect from the long-running drama.<\/p>\n

Call The Midwife was also recently renewed for seasons 14 and 15<\/a>, which will keep the drama on our screens until at least 2026.<\/p>\n
