Viewers know Stacey hasn\u2019t been faring well as of late, having to take a night job to support her family amidst her 12-year-old daughter Lily\u2019s (Lillia Turner) unplanned pregnancy<\/a>.<\/p>\n In an upcoming episode, Stacey will steal money and lie to Jean (Gillian Wright) about it. Burdened by guilt, she returns it the next day, not revealing to her mum she took it in the first place.<\/p> Turner told press, including RadioTimes.com<\/a>: \u201cShe\u2019s many things, but Stacey isn\u2019t a thief, she never has been, so it indicates just how desperate she\u2019s got and how far she is willing to go.\u201d<\/p>\n The actress was adamant that stealing is \u201cout of character\u201d for Stacey, who immediately realises her mistake and puts the money back.<\/p>\n \u201cTaking from other people isn\u2019t something that she\u2019s ever really done before,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Determined not to let anyone know she took the cash, Stacey lies to the police.\u00a0\u201cShe decides she\u2019s going to say that she didn\u2019t take the money, so that\u2019s what she\u2019s sticking to,\u201d Turner continued.<\/p>\n Though Stacey has a good support network, the actress explained that her fierce character isn\u2019t going to let anyone help this time around, also hinting at a rivalry with her cousin Kat (Jessie Wallace).<\/p>\n \u201cKat\u2019s helped her many times, she helped her buy the van, for instance, so she already owes Kat a lot of money,\u201d she said.\u00a0\u201cMartin\u2019s also giving money, as is Alfie and Freddie, so I think she feels like a bit of a charity case.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cAt this point, it\u2019s one too many handouts and it makes her feel small. She\u2019s trying to do everything to keep her family afloat but Kat\u2019s got all of this money and can just throw it about.\u201d<\/p>\n It seems that \u201cpride\u201d will get in the way of Stacey\u2019s relationship with Kat.<\/p> \u201cI think there\u2019s a tiny bit of jealously there, not a bitterness but it\u2019s someone else bailing her out once again,\u201d Turner revealed.<\/p>\n This stealing storyline may be the beginning of what EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw deemed a \u201cbig year\u201d for the Slaters<\/a>, adding that Stacey will go to great lengths to protect her family.<\/p>\n While taking from others is certainly new for Stacey, there\u2019s a chance the executive producer was alluding to her involvement in the Christmas murder<\/a>, previously teased in a flash-forward.
