Something’s off with Lola’s mum. <\/p>

Lola and Jay better watch out in upcoming scenes of EastEnders<\/a>, as her mum Emma will attempt to drive a wedge between them.<\/p>\n

Played by Patsy Kensit, Emma has recently re-entered her daughter\u2019s life<\/a>, but Lola\u2019s husband Jay doesn\u2019t trust his mother-in-law\u2019s sorry act.<\/p>\n

For her part, Emma isn\u2019t doing much to get on his good side, and will go as far as using a misunderstanding to let Lola believe Jay may be cheating on her.<\/p>\n

Ahead of a new storyline, Borthwick revealed the details behind Emma\u2019s scheme to RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press.<\/p>\n

On a night out with Ben and Callum, Jay bumps into a group of women celebrating a hen do. He confides in one of them, opening up about his marriage and Lola\u2019s illness.<\/p>\n

Though their exchange is innocent, he can\u2019t hear what she\u2019s saying and leans forward, and the two appear to get closer. When Emma enters the bar, she thinks she can use the incident to manipulate Lola.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this point Emma comes in, spots Jay and thinks, \u2018Ah, I can use that\u2019,\u201d Borthwick explained. \u201cI don\u2019t think she genuinely believes that Jay is trying to pursue other women, but she sees an opportunity to get Jay out of the picture a little bit.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is very manipulative in that way.\u201d<\/p>

It seems as though Jay\u2019s instincts were right all along when he spotted something off with Emma.<\/p>\n

\u201cJay encouraged the relationship from the start because he can see that Lola isn\u2019t in good health and once she\u2019s decided she wants a relationship with her mum, Jay is never going to stand in the way of that,\u201d Borthwick said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut once she\u2019s on the scene, he can sense that there\u2019s something not quite right about her and he\u2019s got his eye on her.<\/p>\n

Borthwick said that his character can sense \u201csome cracks\u201d and that the situation with Emma will get to a tipping point.<\/p>\n

After Emma tells Lola about Jay\u2019s night out, she believes her husband is pursuing other women. Amidst her jealousy, there\u2019s also a concern for Jay\u2019s wellbeing, with Lola thinking he shouldn\u2019t be with someone who\u2019s sick in the first place.<\/p>\n

Luckily, the couple manage to have an honest conversation and put this misunderstanding behind them, but will Emma stop at that?<\/p>\n
