Now that season 4 is over, is a fifth season of You on the cards? <\/p>

Following the release of the second half<\/a> of season 4 of You on Netflix<\/a>, naturally thoughts are already turning towards season 5.<\/p>\n

Well, there\u2019s both good and bad news on this front: while a fifth season is certainly looking very likely, it will almost certainly be the last.<\/p>\n

Penn Badgley, who plays main character Joe Goldberg<\/a>, recently told\u00a0<\/span>Zavvi<\/span><\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0a potential season 5 would end the story for good.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhere I want him to go should he continue and what I want to happen is, I actually think, what the showrunners are planning to happen,\u201d said Badgley. \u201cSo I can\u2019t tell you, unfortunately.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cBut I can tell you that, should there be a season 5, I think it will bring it all to a really, really satisfying and beautiful conclusion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Showrunner Sera Gamble previously echoed Badgley\u2019s comments in an interview with\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, saying: \u201cWe have an idea for season 5<\/a> that we\u2019re excited about. It was never anyone\u2019s intention to run this one into the ground.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we\u2019re done, we\u2019ll be done. And we\u2019ll pack it up. Even in the early conversations with Penn, the idea was not to crank out episodes forever; it\u2019s to feel like we have told the complete story.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that while the show has changed tonally over the seasons, it\u2019s not \u201ctrying to sell Joe as any kind of hero with a straight face\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a show that is in the tradition of these single-lead shows with a guy who does increasingly bad things,\u201d she explained. \u201cThe beautiful thing about it is that when his arc is complete, so is the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Netflix has not confirmed if there will be a fifth season of You, but it\u2019s looking very likely given Gamble\u2019s recent comments.<\/p>\n

Back in 2021, when You season 4<\/a> was announced, there was no mention of it being the series\u2019 final hurrah so we\u2019ll just have to keep our fingers crossed for now.<\/p>\n
