Following hot on the heels of <\/span>Baz Luhrmann\u2019s <\/span>Elvis<\/span><\/a> biopic<\/span>, Netflix<\/a><\/span>\u00a0has released an animated series featuring the pop culture icon in its lead role.<\/span><\/p>\n

Titled Agent Elvis<\/a>, the spy adventure series features a very different version of the music legend, with the rock star\u00a0<\/span>enlisted <\/span>by a secret government agency known as The Central Bureau to protect the United States from deadly threats.<\/span><\/p>\n

The series was created by the king\u2019s ex-wife Priscilla Presley, who appears in the show in a supporting role, and the rest of the cast is pretty impressive, too,\u00a0<\/span>with Academy Award<\/a> winner Matthew McConaughey in the title role, and\u00a0<\/span>Succession<\/span><\/a>\u2018s Kieran Culkin and Mad Men\u2019s Christina Hendricks also making an appearance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Presley previously said she wanted the series to be a way of \u201cintroducing Elvis to the youth today, wondering why he was so famous and to see him as a hero.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>: \u201cI know that this is a dream come true for Elvis because this is really what he wanted to do. He wanted to be a federal agent, and for me, I\u2019ve always wanted to give Elvis what he wanted and never really quite made it.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a beautiful human being and a very talented human being, and I want kids to see who he really was in this because he really was, he wanted to be an agent. And now he is.\u201d<\/p>
