Prolific screenwriter Steven Knight offered an update to RadioTimes.com. <\/p>
Steven Knight has told Peaky Blinders<\/a> fans to \u201cexpect the unexpected\u201d when it comes to the upcoming feature film, which is due to pick up where the hit television series left off.<\/p>\n A big screen instalment of the crime drama, which stars Cillian Murphy as Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby, had been rumoured for a long time, with Knight confirming its existence in 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, details have been scarce in the time since, besides a reveal that the film will be set during World War II<\/a>, despite Knight\u2019s original plan to end the story just prior to the conflict taking hold.<\/p>\n In an exclusive conversation with RadioTimes.com<\/a> for the Big RT Interview<\/a>, Knight teased that more details would be coming imminently, joking: \u201cI get shot if I announce anything.\u201d<\/p> However, he did cryptically mention that the Peaky Blinders movie will be \u201cthe same but different\u201d, adding that viewers should \u201cexpect the unexpected\u201d, including new characters joining the established favourites.<\/p>\n Of the hotly anticipated project, Knight concluded: \u201cIt\u2019s coming and it\u2019s soon\u2026 Yeah, it\u2019s going to be fun.\u201d<\/p>\n Peaky Blinders<\/a> ended with its sixth season, broadcast last year on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with the climactic story earning star Murphy his first nomination at the BAFTA TV Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Before reprising his popular role as antihero Tommy Shelby, Murphy is reuniting with superstar director Christopher Nolan for this summer\u2019s Oppenheimer<\/a>, where he\u2019ll portray the creator of the atomic bomb.<\/p>\n Previously, the actor has been coy about the prospect of more Peaky Blinders, saying in October<\/a>: \u201cThe television part of the story is finished. If there\u2019s more stories to tell, I\u2019m there, I just haven\u2019t read it yet \u2013 but it\u2019s close, apparently.\u201d<\/p>
