As Russell T Davies<\/a> returns to the show, it seems he\u2019s on top form, with directors Chanya Button, Tom Kingsley and Rachel Talalay updating fans on the different \u201cflavours\u201d of each special.<\/p>\n Kingsley told Doctor Who Magazine<\/a>: \u201cA lot of my episode is quite weird,\u201d adding that he worried it was going to be a \u201cdisaster\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cBut of course, when you come to film it, it\u2019s actually really cool. It\u2019s got a lot of similarities with two of my favourite films, Aliens\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0The\u00a0<\/span>Thing.\u00a0<\/span>It\u2019s a little bit of the DNA of those, mixed in with\u00a0Doctor\u00a0<\/span>Who,\u201d he went on.<\/span><\/p> Talalay added that the first episode is reminiscent of \u201cclassic family Who\u201d before the specials get more \u201cexpansive\u201d.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, she teased that her special is action-packed, revealing: \u201cMy episode features lots of people in lots of scenes. There\u2019s soldiers, there\u2019s battles.\u201d<\/p>\n Summing up the scripts, Button reflected: \u201cIt was just the most expansive thing I\u2019ve ever read.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Doctor Who legends David Tennant (the Tenth and the Fourteenth Doctors) and Catherine Tate (Donna Noble) are returning for the epic new specials, which are set to air in November.<\/p>\n They\u2019ll be joined by new cast members including Neil Patrick Harris, whose character is being kept under wraps (although there are plenty of theories<\/a>) and Yasmin Finney, who\u2019s playing a character named Rose<\/a>, widely speculated to be Donna\u2019s daughter.<\/p>\n Davies previously teased of the specials: \u201cThey\u2019re back! And it looks impossible \u2013 first, we announce a new Doctor, and then an old Doctor, along with the wonderful Donna, what on earth is happening?<\/p>\n \u201cMaybe this is a missing story.
