Jason & Clara: In Memory of Maudie airs tonight on ITV1. <\/p>
ITV has released a first-look clip featuring actor Jason Watkins and his wife Clara Francis in the emotional documentary Jason & Clara: In Memory of Maudie, which airs tonight on ITV1.<\/p>\n
The programme sees the couple tell the story of their daughter Maudie, who tragically passed away of undiagnosed sepsis in the early hours of New Year\u2019s Day 2011, aged just two and a half.<\/p>
\u201cIt\u2019s still difficult to talk about,\u201d Watkins says at the beginning of the clip, before Francis explains: \u201cThis is where Maude was born, I had her at home and it\u2019s also where she died.\u201d<\/p>\n
She adds: \u201cEven after 11 years, it\u2019s still sort of shocking.\u201d<\/p>\n
Watkins explains that he and Clara are about to move house and so the time feels right to tell Maudie\u2019s story, but he admits that it won\u2019t be an easy thing to do.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do feel apprehensive because, you know, it\u2019s a delicate thing, and you\u2019re thinking are we doing the right thing?\u201d he says. \u201cBut it does feel something to be shared and it can help us and other people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Francis also explains that the aim of the documentary is to break down the taboo of child loss.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s so grim and unspeakable, people don\u2019t know what to say, people don\u2019t know how to act around you,\u201d she says. \u201cBut also I want to talk about her and people will know that she was here.\u201d<\/p>\n
