Rodriguez and Reg\u00e9-Jean Page spoke exclusively with RadioTimes.com about the new film. <\/p>
New fantasy adventure film Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves<\/a> is now in UK cinemas, after a long road towards getting it made.<\/p>\n A version of a film based on table-top role playing game Dungeons & Dragons has been in works since 2013, after a previous film trilogy was poorly received. Now, one of the film\u2019s stars Michelle Rodriguez<\/a>, who used to play the game, has admitted to what it was about this script that made her come on board \u2013 and what would have stopped her from doing so.<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively with RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Rodriguez said: \u201cI used to play when I was a teen, but I hadn\u2019t played for like 20 years. And then John [Francis Daley, co-director] and Jonathan [Goldstein, co-director] approached me with the script and I saw the passion that they had for storytelling.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018That\u2019s where you start with the D&D movie.\u2019 You start with just the passion from wanting to tell a story about what it would be like in someone\u2019s head as they\u2019re playing the game.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd like the suspension of disbelief of that, turning it into a feature. And I\u2019m like, \u2018I\u2019m in. You got me bro.\u2019 Because that\u2019s the way to approach it \u2013 not the other way around. \u2018Look, 50 years of free advertising, let\u2019s make a movie about it, make tonnes of money!\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018No, thank you.\u2019 I would say no to that.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Rodriguez\u2019s co-star Reg\u00e9-Jean Page revealed that while he had heard of Dungeons & Dragons<\/a> he had never played it before, meaning his first game was with the film\u2019s cast \u2013 something he called \u201cpretty awesome\u201d.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n He said: \u201cIt\u2019s a pretty natural place for actors to hang out.
