{"id":32123,"date":"2023-04-14T13:29:50","date_gmt":"2023-04-14T11:29:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/?p=1816118"},"modified":"2023-04-15T05:13:50","modified_gmt":"2023-04-15T03:13:50","slug":"the-hunt-for-raoul-moat-writer-is-challenging-viewers-to-think-again","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/radiotimes\/rss_feed\/the-hunt-for-raoul-moat-writer-is-challenging-viewers-to-think-again\/","title":{"rendered":"The Hunt for Raoul Moat writer is \u2018challenging viewers to think again\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\"> The new ITV drama has been produced with the victims&#8217; stories in mind, according to screenwriter Kevin Sampson. <\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By Morgan Cormack\n                \t\t<\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Friday, 14 April 2023 at 12:00 am<\/p><hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body> <p>Premiering this weekend and then consecutively across three nights, <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/hunt-for-raoul-moat-itv-release-date\/&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot; noopener noreferrer\">The Hunt For Raoul Moat<\/a> is ITV\u2019s latest true crime drama set to explore Britain\u2019s biggest, headline-grabbing manhunt.<\/p>\n<p>The 2010 manhunt lasted seven days and ended in Moat\u2019s death but the new drama is set to explore \u201cthe human tragedies\u201d behind the manhunt and will be told through the eyes of those who sought to bring a violent killer to justice, including the police and press.<\/p>\n<p>As well as having a cast led by Lee Ingleby (Inspector George Gently) as senior Northumbria police detective Neil Adamson, the three-part drama comes from acclaimed producers World Productions and has been written by <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/programme\/b-fjot66\/anne\/&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot; noopener noreferrer\">Anne<\/a> screenwriter Kevin Sampson.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"\/\/radiotimes.com\/&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot; noopener noreferrer\">RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press in a Q&amp;A for the series, Sampson spoke about his motivations to bring this case to life on screen.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cIn terms of why this and why now, the idea really came in the wake of lockdown \u2013 there was an escalation in cases of domestic violence and that was something I had a real interest in. We\u2019d been talking about ways of platforming issues like this.\u201d<\/p> <p>He continued: \u201cThe whole thing coalesced from there, it was the coming together of things like \u2018fake news\u2019, the influence of social media, the almost trivialisation of crimes against women generally, and crimes in the home as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn top of that, it was such a potent and unique case\u2026 it struck me that all of those threads could come together and make something that was a real, powerful and yet sensitive drama that highlighted some of those things. Our stories are about a point of view.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo the first episode begins from Samantha Stobbart\u2019s point of view at the start of what is a love story involving her and Christopher Brown. The police don\u2019t arrive until part three of the first episode.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the way in which people view and understand the story, that\u2019s quite radical to do.
