Are Adam Dalgliesh’s detective days coming to an end? <\/p>

Dalgliesh season 2 opened on an uncertain note for Bertie Carvel\u2019s lead detective.<\/p>\n

Alongside his day job, he has returned to writing poetry following a hiatus due to the death of his wife and his latest body of published work is receiving lots of positive attention.<\/p>\n

During a meeting with his agent Blanche, she reveals that he\u2019s sold 18,000 copies in the US, with a tour of North America beckoning.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a job, Blanche,\u201d he says, acknowledging his responsibilities as a detective.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, you have two jobs, and this one\u2019s getting bigger and wants attention,\u201d she says before referencing his previous comments about \u201cstopping the policing\u201d.<\/p>\n

He tells her it\u2019s a \u201ctrick he plays on himself sometimes\u201d, to tell himself he can stop so that he can keep going.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy do you need to keep going?\u201d she asks.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, I\u2019m not sure,\u201d he responds.<\/p>
