Up until recently, it looked as though Love Island<\/a>\u2018s <\/span>Jake Cornish and Liberty Poole<\/a> had the show\u2019s cash prize of \u00a350,000 in the bag.<\/p>\n

The couple have been together since day one, and they even made their relationship official by becoming boyfriend and girlfriend, with Jake presenting Liberty with a matching white magnetic bracelet to his black one. However, fellow Islanders have questioned whether Jake really is as keen on Liberty as she is on him, and though he recently told Liberty he loved her, some of the Love Island contestants<\/a> just weren\u2019t buying it.<\/p>\n

Jake and Liberty were even voted by their peers as one of the most incompatible couples, but were saved by the public. Though they seem very happy and loved-up, are viewers convinced that they are the real deal? Could Jiberty overcome the nagging doubt of their fellow Islanders and make it to the final to win?<\/p>\n

Jake is very to the point when explaining his reasoning for taking part in the show, saying:\u00a0 \u201cI was in a relationship for seven years and then, when lockdown hit, I was single. The opportunity is there, you might as well take it by the horns and go for it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But while he is in the villa, he does think he will miss the outside world. \u201c[I will miss] my mum and my nieces. They\u2019re lush. I\u2019ll miss the lads but I\u2019m sure they\u2019ll enjoy watching me making a t*t out of myself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

What does Jake do for work?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cI\u2019m basically a handyman, a jack of all trades \u2013 just not electrics! I don\u2019t go near electric.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s all Jake has to say about his job but, considering his role involves water, we agree it is probably best he stays clear of all things electrical.<\/span><\/p>\n

But don\u2019t think that just because Jake is light on words that he won\u2019t be a fun figure in the villa, as it seems he will be quite the opposite. \u201cMy family would say I\u2019m the one who is always up for a laugh, always having fun. I don\u2019t take anything seriously. The prankster! My nickname is Tigger from Winnie the Pooh because I\u2019m always bouncing all over the place. I\u2019ve always got so much energy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

What is Jake like as a dater?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

At just 24, Jake already has a seven-year relationship under his belt, and he says he\u2019s in it for the long term. \u201cI\u2019m so used to being with one girl, I enjoyed it obviously. I\u2019m 24 now, so I would like to think by the time I\u2019m 30, you think, \u2018I\u2019d like to get married and have kids\u2019. I\u2019m still young but, before you know it, I\u2019ll be 25 and then 26. So I would like to think I\u2019d settle down.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

As for his ex-girlfriend, Jake says there\u2019s no bad blood, and she\u2019s since moved on with someone else. \u201cShe\u2019s my childhood sweetheart. You just grow apart, don\u2019t you? It didn\u2019t end sour, it didn\u2019t end bitter, it\u2019s just a case of it is what it is. She went her way, I went my way, I\u2019ve ended up here and she\u2019s ended with a boyfriend,\u201d he laughs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Will his childhood sweetheart be watching?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Jake isn\u2019t fussed about his ex seeing him in the villa. \u201cI\u2019m not worried, to be honest \u2013 there\u2019s no bad blood,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s just that she\u2019ll see me dating on the TV instead of down the pub, I suppose \u2013 the only difference!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Jake looking for in a partner?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Some trust issues could cause Jake a problem in his hunt for somebody\u2019s heart, but the main thing he is looking for in the villa is fun (oh and \u201clittle feet\u201d).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLooks-wise, always gone for blondes. But for me, the main thing is having respect and having good fun, and someone who will be loyal to you. I\u2019ve had messages from girls that have got boyfriends and husbands. This is why I don\u2019t trust anyone. [I want] someone who is loyal really. But when I\u2019m single, I like having a good time!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

You might think that Jake would be a good match for Love Island\u2019s ultimate loyalist, Georgia Steel, but he\u2019s actually a big fan of 2019 star Molly-Mae Hague, and says she and Tommy Fury are his ultimate Love Island role models. \u201cMolly\u2019s a lady that I like a lady,\u201d he says. \u201cThey just look so good together.\u201d His favourite islander of all time is fellow West Country native Chris Hughes and, apparently, all his mates say he reminds them of Jake.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
