RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press at the BAFTA TV Awards 2023,\u00a0McSweeney came to reflect on the future of Derry Girls.<\/span><\/p>\nAsked whether her win is enough to get another season, she mused: <\/span>\u201cIf it was down to me, but it isn\u2019t down to me at all.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nShe continued: \u201cI also think that, you know, the thing that also makes shows great is knowing when to end them as well and not sort of ruining what was good about it by dragging it out for years and years and seasons and seasons.\u201d<\/span><\/p> \u201cSo I feel like we\u2019ve left all the characters in a really good place \u2013 in a place of hope and a place of peace. <\/span>And yeah, why not leave them there for the time being?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nShe joked: \u201c<\/span>Sure look, I see Sister Michael every time I open my eyes into the mirror so she\u2019s always with me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nAsked whether there could be a film on the way, she added: <\/span>\u201cOh, no, no, no. Like I said, where we\u2019ve left them is in a good place \u2013 and it would never be down to me anyway.<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cI mean I became an actor to live as many lives as possible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nAhead of season 3<\/a>\u2019s premiere back in April 2022, creator Lisa McGee addressed the possibility of a movie spin-off.<\/span><\/p>\nWhen asked by Radio Times magazine<\/b>\u00a0whether there could be a Derry Girls film, the writer said: \u201cWho knows!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nShe added: \u201cYou never know what will happen in 10 years\u2019 time, but as a writer, you just know when it\u2019s complete. I\u2019ll miss them, but I feel like I got to take those characters exactly where I wanted to take them.\u201d<\/p>
