Henry Cavill is gearing up to see goodbye to Geralt of Rivia with season 3 of The Witcher<\/a> \u2013 but first, it seems he\u2019s in for quite the dramatic time of it.<\/p>\n

The upcoming season will pick up after Geralt (Cavill)<\/a>, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra)<\/a> and Ciri (Freya Allan)<\/a> headed off on the run together with, erm, pretty much everyone trying to kill Ciri.<\/p>\n

Giving us a sense of what\u2019s to come, Cavill had a stark warning for fans.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, there is a real threat,\u201d the actor told Tudum<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s genuine; it\u2019s no longer theoretical \u2014 it\u2019s practical. And it\u2019s very, very dangerous. They are walking into the lion\u2019s den everywhere they go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who previously spoke to RadioTimes.com<\/a> about how spin-off The Witcher: Blood Origin<\/a> sets up season 3, added: \u201cIn so many ways, season 3 is the culmination of what we\u2019ve been building toward all along.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Witcher season 3 will be released in two volumes, with the first coming in June and the second landing in July, and it will be Cavill\u2019s final bow as Geralt as Rivia before Liam Hemsworth<\/a> takes over in season 4.<\/p>\n

Cavill previously said in a statement: \u201cMy journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4.\u201d<\/p>

He added: \u201cIn my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam\u2019s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.<\/p>\n
