Executive producer Chris Clenshaw has discussed the presence of an armoured knight in the Queen Vic pub. <\/p>

Executive producer Chris Clenshaw has explained the significance of the \u2018Knight in Shining Armour\u2019 in EastEnders<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ever since fans watched the twist flash-forward scene in February<\/a>, fans had been puzzled by the presence of an armoured knight standing in the background of the enigmatic scene.<\/p>\n

After the episode aired, Clenshaw also hinted that the new co-owners of the Queen Vic pub would surprise as Linda\u2019s \u2018Knight in Shining Armour\u2019 would not be who was expected<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Of course, upcoming scenes see Linda and her mother Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) joined by the latter\u2019s new partner George Knight (Colin Salmon) and his daughters Gina (Francesca Henry) and Anna (Molly Rainford).<\/p>\n

So, Elaine and the Knights<\/a> are that figurative apparent saviour for Linda, but where does the literal armoured figure fit in?<\/p>

Speaking at a press event introducing the Knights, Clenshaw explained to RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press: \u201cAlready, we\u2019re like now the \u2018Knight in Shining Armour\u2019 kind of makes sense to everyone, which I know that when [Kellie Bright and rest of\u00a0 \u2018The Six\u2019] were there when we shot that scene, that the Knights weren\u2019t in scripts \u2013 so everyone was very speculating.\u201d<\/p>\n

Actress Kellie Bright added: \u201cWell, I walked onto the set and there was this bloody knight, like, \u2018What\u2019s it doing here?!\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI say the knight is definitely gonna stay, I hope.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was then that Clenshaw explained the significance of the inanimate knight for the family itself, particularly George Knight (Colin Salmon).<\/p>\n

Clenshaw revealed: \u201cHe\u2019s been with George in all of his bars.\u201d<\/p>\n

To this, Salmon confirmed: \u201cHe\u2019s my right-hand man.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, the Knights were not in the scripts for February when Kellie Bright first laid eyes on the armoured figure, but the family have been in the soap\u2019s plans for quite some time.<\/p>\n

Clenshaw revealed that the show \u201cstarted developing the family probably last January, February. So, therefore, they\u2019ve been on paper for a hell of a long time.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut in the hands of these wonderful, wonderful, talented actors, they have just kind of exceeded all expectations. So thank you all because they were great on paper but they\u2019re even more extraordinary when you\u2019re viewing the episodes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Knights and their armoured friend make their debut on Thursday 1st June 2023.<\/p>\n
