Big Finish has revealed that Star Trek star Marina\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Sirtis<\/span><\/span> will be joining Freema Agyeman in the voice cast for the new Doctor Who<\/a> audio series The Year of Martha Jones.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The actress, who played Counselor\u00a0Deanna Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation and four Star Trek feature films, will be starring as Karen, a friend of Martha.<\/p>\n On making her Doctor Who debut, Sirtis revealed that she was a long tome fan of the show, saying: \u201c<\/span>When people ask me who my first Doctor was, it was the\u00a0<\/i>First Doctor. As an actor, I\u2019m all about performances, and\u00a0Doctor Who\u00a0has always employed fine actors \u2013 it\u2019s a very unique and special show.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She added: \u201cThis box set tells us that stories are important, which is why they last \u2013 they are handed down from generation to generation, and are what give our imaginations flight.\u201d<\/span><\/p> According to Big Finish, the series consists of three new stories for the Tenth Doctor\u2019s companion, exploring the year she spent travelling the Earth, warning humanity about the Master and spreading hope with tales of the Doctor.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n And Sirtis isn\u2019t the only exciting cast member for the series, with Game of Thrones<\/a> actor Gethin Anthony starring as agent of the Master, Mr Strand, and Alien: Covenant\u2019s Lorelei King returning as resistance leader Jessie Grant.<\/span><\/p>\n Meanwhile, Julie Graham \u2013 who has previously appeared on both Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures \u2013 returns to the Whoniverse in a new role as Miss Beecham, who is described as \u201can ambitious and efficient agent of the Master\u201d a<\/span>nd Adjoa Andoh reprises the role of Martha\u2019s mother Francine Jones.<\/p>\n \u201cThis has just been the most fun,\u201d Anthony said of taking part. \u201cThe feeling of adventure and escapism and imagination that you can get through voice performance is amazing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0\u201c<\/span>The scale of the stories you can get to tell in a very efficient amount of time, in which you can go anywhere in the universe (as we tend to do) \u2013 it always reconnects me with why you get into this crazy path in life in the first place. It\u2019s like playing dress up, but with your voice.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n And King added:\u00a0 \u201cI love my character \u2013 she really is a very maternal\u00a0<\/span>character,<\/span>\u00a0in that she is making sure that everyone is okay.
