Best friends and “brothers” Jay Brown and Ben Mitchell are set to clash over Lexi after Lola’s tragic demise. <\/p>

Ben Mitchell and Jay Brown are set to clash over raising Lexi Pearce in EastEnders<\/a> after she loses her mother.<\/p>\n

As Lola Pearce-Brown (Danielle Harold) is set to pass away next week following her battle with a terminal brain tumour, those grieving for her include her daughter Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown), Lexi\u2019s father Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and Lola\u2019s husband Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick).<\/p>\n

Speaking at a press screening for Lola\u2019s final episode, executive producer Chris Clenshaw discussed the impact of Lola\u2019s devastating death<\/a> on her whole family.<\/p>\n

Clenshaw confirmed that Lola\u2019s family will be changed forever: \u201cBilly, Ben, Jay, Lexi, Honey, it will obviously have devastating consequences for the family.\u201d<\/p>

He continued: \u201cI think Lola has been in this position where she has been aware of what has been coming down the line. So she\u2019s actually, you know, she\u2019s given some certain requests to the family. She\u2019s asked Jay to make sure that he always is speaking to Lexi, she should put certain things in place.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo in a kind of immediate future, they really pull together as a family, I think, and they\u2019re there for each other. But that may not last forever\u2026 Yeah, it\u2019s gonna be a difficult, difficult process.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, it\u2019s a sad ending for Lola, but it doesn\u2019t stop there for the rest of the family, unfortunately.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the wake of Lola\u2019s passing, Lexi is set to be raised by her father Ben and step-fathers Callum Highway (Tony Clay) and Jay, the latter of whom now has legal parental responsibility<\/a> through arrangements that Lola made before her death.<\/p>\n

Clenshaw later noted: \u201cThen, obviously, so for Lexi, she\u2019s got three dads.\u201d<\/p>\n

Actor Jamie Borthwick went on to explain: \u201cYeah, I\u2019m sure the boys are going to clash about the dad thing, particularly, probably Ben and Jay.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut in terms of moving on that a bit further on,\u00a0 me and Chris have had brief little moments but we do have a little one to one due to find out exactly what\u2019s going to be going on, so yeah, I\u2019m sure it\u2019s gonna be very very exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Clenshaw did offer a teaser for Jay\u2019s future<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lola\u2019s death will be broadcast on Wednesday 31st May 2023.<\/p>\n
