The series follows Laura (Joyner), a woman with a seemingly perfect life, whose private struggles are exacerbated by the arrival of a mysterious stranger intent on destroying her.<\/p>\n
Mitchell plays Laura\u2019s mother, Maggie, who is described by Joyner as \u201ca powerful woman\u201d, but the Stay Close<\/a> alum added that her casting was not a deliberate nod to the BBC One soap they worked on together.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen they cast, they didn\u2019t realise \u2013 it wasn\u2019t a conscious thing,\u201d she told RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press. \u201cVery often when you work with somebody, a sad part of the end of the job is you know you\u2019re very unlikely to be cast with them again.<\/p> \u201cI loved working with Jake Wood, I know very rarely will we ever be husband and wife again. It\u2019s unlikely we\u2019ll ever be in the same show. It was really special.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cI have a huge amount of admiration for Anne. She\u2019s such a wonderful actress and she\u2019s got such an incredible history and so many wonderful stories.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cBut on the schedule of EastEnders and the atmosphere that you have on the soap \u2013 the relentless soaps \u2013 we never really got to chat or spend time with each other.<\/p>\n \u201cNobody hangs around in Borehamwood. We all go home and learn tomorrow\u2019s stuff. It\u2019s relentless. Whereas this, we were all working away from home so at the end of the night, we could go for a glass of wine after work and talk.\u201d<\/p>\n Mitchell played Cora Cross on EastEnders \u2013 mother of Joyner\u2019s Tanya Branning \u2013 for numerous stints between 2011 and 2018, with the character earning a reputation for her brash and outspoken attitude.<\/p>\n Nevertheless, Joyner regards Maggie in For Her Sins as an even more formidable character.<\/p>\n She added: \u201cSo our relationship as mother and daughter before, she was the weaker soul that needed saving.
